Tips & tricks

Twelve habits of GMs who win cap leagues — shortcuts, sandboxes, and settings worth knowing.

None of these are secrets, but all of them separate the GMs who work the platform from the GMs the platform works. In rough order of how often they'll save you:

Twelve power-user tips

  1. Share cap-simulator scenarios via link. Built a three-move plan to clear space? Send the scenario link to your trade partner instead of describing it — they see exactly what you see.
  2. Use the command palette to jump anywhere. One keystroke, type a player, page, or league, hit enter. Fastest navigation in the app by a mile.
  3. Pin your busiest leagues. Your in-season and mid-draft leagues belong at the top of the dashboard; pin them there.
  4. Run a practice room before the real draft. Mock drafts and practice auctions use the real interface with zero consequences — learn what an anti-snipe timer feels like for free.
  5. Set multiple waiver process days. Commissioners: two or three processing days a week keeps the wire moving and stops the mid-week injury pileup.
  6. Preview bulk actions before executing. The preview shows exactly what will change league-wide. Read it every time; rollback exists, but not needing it is better.
  7. Export your league data. Data Export in the commissioner hub gets everything out. Great for offseason deep-dives, essential for peace of mind.
  8. Use the trade finder when you're stuck. It scans every roster for mutual fits. The trade you can't see from your own roster page is usually visible from theirs.
  9. Watch cap efficiency before the trade deadline. A high-spend, low-efficiency contender is one injury from collapse — and often willing to overpay. Points per cap dollar tells you who's actually good.
  10. Set auto-subs before bye weeks. If your league has auto-subs enabled, designate your subs before the byes hit — the game you forget is always the one that costs you a playoff spot.
  11. Write the constitution early and let versioning track changes. Rules written before a dispute are rules; rules written during one are negotiations. Version history keeps the receipts.
  12. Check your roster window before going all-in. If the window view says your core peaks in two years, this year's rental price is next year's regret. Buy when the window says buy.
